And yet another Bizzy kid quilt

One of the physicians who cares for my son saw the Bizzy Kid quilt I made for him and wanted one for her son, but in blues and browns, (her sons room colors)with a fair share of polka dots and stripes. Nothing makes me more nervous than quilting for someone else when I'm not making it as a gift. It brings the perfectionist out in me. This particular physican reassured me it would be fine. I didn't get time to start on it until after the holidays, but since I've made this twice before, it went together quickly. I think it turned out very pretty, and hope she enjoys it!

Finished January, 2012.

A quilt for Hazel

I made this for a friend of mine's sister, who had a baby in January.  After much debate ( I am terrible at making decisions when it comes to a pattern for someone else) I chose this pattern from the "Crazy mom quilts" website.  I added some borders to it, along with an apliqued name and a cute little appliqued birdie.  This quilt made it's way ALL the way to Switzerland.  It is made from the "Hullabaloo" line of fabric by Moda.

Kaleidoscope Quilt

I'd been eyeing this quilt by cluck.cluck.sew for a long time.  It looked so complicated, but I loved it so much.  So I finally took the plunge and made it.  It was the first quilt in a long time I hadn't used a specific "line" of fabric, but actually picked fabric that I thought would look good together.  I LOVE the way it turned out!! This quilt was a challenge for me, but I learned alot in the process. This pattern can also be make into baby quilt size, and since that is what I like to make a lot of; I would guess I will be using this pattern again!  This quilt is the first quilt I've kept for myself, and it resides in my family room where it gets plenty of snuggles!  I finished this in Septemper of '11

Oliver's "Road to Tennessee" quilt

My brother and his wife had there first baby in August.  My nephew, Oliver, is cute as a button.  I knew he needed a quilt from his aunt Jill, so I started making him a baby quilt.  It became apparent very early on, that this little boy was blessed with many baby blankets, so I decided he needed something a little bigger.  By adding a few borders, I was able to make his quilt toddler bed sized, so he could grow into it.  I love the way it turned out, and hope than Oliver can enjoy it for years to come.  This was his Christmas present from us!

I got the pattern off of modabakeshop.com, and the pattern was called "Road to Tennessee".  Since my little man is living there, it only seemed fitting!!

My Mom's Quilt

I've been wanting to make my mom a quilt for a long time now.  I finally found the perfect pattern. Here china dish pattern is a pretty blue.  She has them displayed in her living room and I wanted the quilt to match that.  So I started collecting blue fabric that spoke to me as "her".

Here is an "in progress" picture; the blocks all layed out in my living room waiting to be sewn together.

And here is the quilt completed.  I think it turned out so pretty.  I gave it to her for Christmas.  She cried :). I'm so glad she liked  it!

I hand quilted the entire thing.  That was a huge job.  I can't believe how long that took me.  Here is a blurry, up close picture of the hand quilting.  Not too bad for my second try at it :).

Another Bizzy Kid Quilt

The last time my son was at Children's hospital, one of the physicians asked if I would ever be interested in making a quilt for the Childrens' gala.  I couldn't believe she thought my sewing ability was good enough to make a quilt that would be auctioned off.  I was amazed; but said YES!!  Here is the quilt.  I made another bizzy kid quilt from my Cluck, Cluck, Sew Pattern and I love the colors as well as my first.  I can't wait to here what it brought at the auction.  Children's hospital has been so good to us and taken sure good care of my son, that this was the least I could do.  This quilt was finished October '11

I have a few more quilts and projects I've finished, and I'm working like a busy little bee on several projects; but I can't show them right now; because they are upcoming gifts.  I don't think anyone but myself reads this blog; but just in case, I don't want to ruin the surprise :)
